Happy School Board Appreciation Week! Carolyn Davenport has served on the Cartersville City School Board for the past 12 years representing Ward 1.

When asked why she serves, she said, "Looking back over the years, my reasons for serving on the board have grown in various ways. I love being an advocate for children and that was my primary focus when I first became involved. Serving on the CCS Board has been and is a rewarding experience. It affords me the opportunity to act on behalf of the students legislatively through policy making and administratively by monitoring budgets, and ensuring that administrative and staff are accountable. I am also able to engage the community by representing the interest of students, parents, and staff, as well as being a voice for my constituents. Most importantly, I always try to make decisions that are ethical and in the best interest of the students. I serve because I believe in the school's vision, Building legacies- One student at a time.

"I believe CCS advocates for the entire district and is always trying to find ways to be better. Cartersville City Schools is transparent, acknowledging that we don't want to just be a good district, we want to be a great district!"
